Word has reached the Brooklyn Bar Association from Thomas Adcock that the New York Law Journal Fiction Contest 2009 is open to all attorneys, law professors, and law students. First prize for the $1,000 to 5,000 word work of fiction set in the legal milieu is 1,000 plus publication in the December 4, 2009 New York Journal edition. The contest deadline is Friday, November 6, 2009. Word has reached the Brooklyn Bar Association from Past President Dominick Giordano that his former officemate Alfred J. Ranieri passed away on July 10, 2009 at the age of 85. A former NYC Tax Commissioner under Mayor John Lindsey, Alfred J. Ranieri practiced law in the 1950s with Hon. Michael C. Curci.
The Brooklyn Bar Association extents its deepest sympathy to the Munson family on the passing of long-time member Nancy K. Munson. Ms.Munson, 72 years old ,the founder of the Munson Law Firm in Huntington, Long Island was killed in a two car auto accident on the Sagtikos Parkway on May 3, 2009.
