Judicial Recognition

Congratulations to Brooklyn Bar Association member Hon. Bruce M. Balter who was the recipient of the Man of the Year Award presented by the Court Attorneys Association of the City of New York. The award, which was presented at their annual dinner on June 2, 2004, was in recognition of Justice Balter’s elevation to the Supreme Court bench.

Kudos And Professional Recognition

Congratulations to long-standing Brooklyn Bar Association member Richard J. O’Keeffe who, earlier this year, was appointed as National President of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a leading civil trial group in the country.

Brooklyn Bar Association Executive Director Avery Eli Okin, Esq., CAE, was elected as a Vice President of The 100 Year Association of the City of New York at the Annual Meeting of that Association on July 28, 2004. In addition, at that time he was reappointed as the Chair of the College Scholarship and Public Service Awards Committees.

Congratulations to Brooklyn Bar Association staff member Thomas Visco and his wife Wilma whose son, Lieutenant Junior Grade Joseph S. Giammanco of the United States Coast Guard, took command of his first ship, the USCGC ALBACORE (WPB 87309). Lieutenant Giammanco assumed command on July 16, 2004.
