Manuel A. Romero (Manny) currently serves as the Chairman of the New York State Grievance Committee for the 2", 11 7' and 13" Judicial Districts. The Committee handles attorney discipline in Kings, Queens and Richmond Counties. In 2005, Manny was elected President of the Brooklyn Bar Association. He is the first Latino President in the 138-year history of the Association. Manny graduated with honors from Xavier High School in Manhattan. He then went to Fordham University in the Bronx where he played varsity football and received his B.A. He graduated from New York Law School and spent the next six years as a trial attorney litigating the defense of personal injury cases. For the past 20 years he has been the Principal and Senior Trial Attorney in his own law firm, Manuel A. Romero, P.C., where he has concentrated on plaintiffs' personal injury cases, from inception to trial. While in private practice, Manny has achieved several multi-million-dollar jury verdicts including a $30,593,831.00 verdict, for a pedestrian in a motor vehicle collision.
Manny was awarded the 2007 Community Achievement Award by the Hispanic Heritage Committee of the Cervantes Society. Manny was honored as the "Man of the Year" on April 14, 2005, by the Kings County Democratic Party. He was also the recipient of the Sybil Hart Kooper Award, on April 21, 2005, at the Brooklyn Women's Bar Association's Awards Dinner. Manny was also honored by the New York County Lawyer's Association at its 91st Annual Dinner honoring Jurists and Lawyers of Color on December 13, 2005. |
