Estate Planning in the Digital Age
Brooklyn Bar Association, 123 Remsen St., Brooklyn, NY 11201
In this seminar, we will explore the definition of digital assets and discuss how to access them, secure them and distribute them. We will discuss the need to plan for the distribution of digital assets at death and, in some cases, during life. You will learn what obstacles and risks are associated with planning for digital assets, such as potential privacy violation issues and the impact of federal and state hacking laws. In addition, we will discuss various planning techniques to avoid the pitfalls and ensure smooth administration of the digital assets. This seminar will help the practitioner navigate through all of these issues to ensure the client’s wishes are satisfied while preserving the integrity of the digital assets and, perhaps preventing, identify and content theft.
