Description:
The LGBTQ Committee brings you its first CLE! The course will explore the nuts and bolts of litigating employment discrimination cases, with a focus on LGBTQ clients. Current practitioners will discuss considerations for negotiating a settlement package, whether to send a case to litigation, sample jury instructions, interrogatories, and case studies.

The course will also discuss the current guidelines concerning employment discrimination against transgender individuals and gender discrimination as set forth by the New York City Commission on Human Rights.

Understanding the New Uniform Disciplinary Rules

Description:
The Administrative Board of the statewide court system recently adopted new rules that will harmonize various disciplinary procedures around the state. These rules promise a more uniform approach to disciplining New York attorneys.
Thus, charges of attorney misconduct will be investigated in a similar manner across the state and sanctions for similar kinds of wrongdoing will be consistent. The program will discuss what changes were made and what procedures will remain in place.

This program will review the ins and outs of probating a will in New York State Surrogate’s Court. Attendees will learn how to navigate the court proceeding from two perspectives. Experienced probate attorneys will comment from the perspective of the practitioner and Kevin McTernan, Chief Clerk, Probate Department, Surrogate’s Court, Kings County, will comment from the perspective of the Court.

What are the necessary steps in a probate proceeding? What are the pitfalls and potential sources of delay? What is the Court looking for to address irregularities? Paul S.
